Masi Oka is a Japanese-American actor, and was born on December 27, 1974 in Tokyo, Japan. Oka's first Hollywood job was not actually as an actor, but as a digital effects artist for George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic company, where he worked on the Star Wars prequels. Oka's first high profile TV role was the recurring part of lab tech Franklyn on the sitcom Scrubs, but his real big break came when he was cast as Hiro Nakamura on the NBC mega hit Heroes. In 2008, he appeared as Bruce in the Steve Carell starring film version of Get Smart, and its spin-off film Bruce & Lloyd Out Of Control. Oka hit upon his next big TV success with the recurring role of Max Bergman on the CBS reboot of Hawaii Five-0. He was upgraded to main cast member in the second season. Other acting credits include Gilmore Girls, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Austin Powers in Goldmember, Along Came Polly, Joey, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, Reno 911, and Friends With Benefits.
