"Welcome to The Phoenix Club." A Bolton 'night club' is the backdrop for this 'Northern' comedy. With a small name cast of superb actors, this show finds its niche in the everyday trials and tribulations of running a working man's 'club', especially when its punters are seemingly elderly. Scams and schemes are the backbone of Peter Kay's character, an entrepreneur of the club scene, as he will do anything to get an advantage in business and draw in the customers.
A spin-off of an episode of 'That Peter Kay Thing' this series also spawned a spin-off, 'Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere'.
The good times are rolling as The Phoenix Club's new Chinese restaurant is more than taking off. Things get better when the brewery comes 'crawling back' to the club. But Den Perry has something to say about that, and seeks a repeat of the year before. Meanwhile Max and Paddy spot some business they thought was taken care of, only now they're in trouble for not getting the job done properly.
