| ...my avatar was? This painting: From: This episode of Night Gallery. So go, H.P.Lovecraft. What is it, specifically? Well, let Lovecraft describe it: "There is a legend that tells of an eldritch race, more foul and loathsome than the putrid slime that clings to the walls of Hell - twisted creatures, half man, half beast, who move with the rustling sound of predatory rats, carrying with them the stench of the charnel house. Wretched mutations who live deep beneath the earth in dark tunnels, surfacing in the dead of night and returning before dawn to practice their unspeakable acts, and breed their filthy spawn, until the day arrives when their swollen numbers will finally emerge and ravish the earth like a noxious plague." Thanks to upgrading to digital cable, I've been catching up on reruns of the series on RTN. So between recapping current shows, I've been slowly filling in the blanks for Night Gallery as well. The show kind of has a bad rap. It's no Twilight Zone, sure, and the 2-minute blackout sketches are pretty much garbage. But beyond that, there's only a few that are total embarrassments, at least in the first two seasons. |
