» I didn't get the guide
Day in, and day out I work hard over at this site, trying to do my best to be one of the top contributors of the site, and I got my application rejected because I have bad spelling and bad grammar. This is so un fair. For months now I've been trying to work hard to become editor for this program and because the staff thinks I'm a bad editor in terms of my spelling and grammar, I can't be editor for it. I was in tears when I read that they are concerned about my editor abilities.

Editor Application
Dear JLU_Batz01,

Your Application to become editor for the Show "Legion of Superheroes" Has not been approved!

Reason:
As of late we have grown concerned about your editing abilities. Not only does your forum/blog history display poor grammar, yet also your Editor Application contains many typos and errors. And this is unacceptable.

You currently edit a new show, and now are asking for another one. You should know we have no obligation to appoint editors that, in spite of meeting our requirements, have to be repeatedly told to mind their grammar and spelling.

We suggest you contribute well written material so that we can evaluate your proficiency.

Now somebody else is going to get the guide...

To Zarius: Did I fix all the errors?

Hmm, looks like Tvrage is cracking down on spelling and grammar for editorships. I guess the only thing you can do is practise, even if you don't get this guide, it could come in handy for future guides.

How is it unfair?, your blog post alone contains numerous spelling and grammar errors, there's already a "spell check" option on the synopsises and notes, don't tell me you have'nt been remotley using it?

We don't want to end becoming another Tv.com, where this sort of crap is allowed, we're all professionals, or we start acting like professionals, there's more to Tvrage than it just being a hobby, we hope to be an alternate source for TV Info, accurate, well pronounced, and to the point.

That sucks, JLU_Batz01. I mean, even if there are errors in the guide, you have to fix them before you can get it marked complete, so I don't see what the problem is. I mean, bebopordeath (no offense), types without the worry of spelling or grammar accuracies, and he's been given guides. Granted, it was before this time, however, his was to a much bigger extent than yours.

Zarius, practice what you preach. You are saying how JLU_Batz01 has a lot of spelling mistakes in his blog post alone and that he should be using the spell check, however, you spelled "remotely" wrong, and made a typo on "haven't". Also, your whole second paragraph is one sentence, and you can't put a comma after a question mark.

BTW, I know that I may have a couple of typos in here, though it's acceptable, since I never claimed that people should be obligated to using the spell check in blog and forum posts.

System, stop fighting other people's battles, given you have typos also, no matter how much you may want to sugercoat them, they are still typos. What I'm saying is'nt a negative slam on anyone just in case you were assuming otherwise.

The point is, typing in blogs with wrong wording and making sure you use the spellcheck in episode guides where it counts far more are completly different things.

I was'nt telling JLU_Batz01to spell properly in his blog, I meant he needed to spell properly when editing or contributing episodes and notes, he can do whatever he wants otherwise.
You failed to correctly read my post, and assumed I was talking about maintaining correct wording in his own blogs and posts.

I apologise JLU_Batz0, it's not meant as a negative slam or anything, but I see nothing over how "unfair" it is.

Sorry, Zarius. I took it as an insult to JLU_Batz01's spelling and grammar, which is why I was defending him.

I personally consider it bullcrap to judge someone via there posts on blogs. Look at cokebeard. He doesn't write in complete sentences but he does awesome work with his guides and alot of people make mistakes. I don't know why you people act as if you're perfect.

It's no big deal... I still think it's bullcrap, and I think I've only been told once about my gramar by a moderator.

I try. I put all of my guides through Microsoft word before I go to mark it complete, though it's not always enough. I type up all of my recaps in Microsoft word before I submit them, and I hit spell check before I submit notes. There are about a couple of times when I over look something, and I change what I can when it is to my attention. I just find it stupid that because I have a few slip ups on the site they don't believe me to be a good editor.

WiseCrack even went out on a limb to say I was a hard working editor on my Batman Beyond guide, which ment the world to me that a staff member had thought my guide was good, though now, I just feel like an empty shell, and I feel that the staff doesn't appreciate the hard work and effort that I put in on this site.

I spend about three hours A DAY on this site, looking up news and writing out information.

You know what's funny though? When I worked up to go for Smallville, and get that as a guide, the staff told be that the show didn't need an editor, though a couple days later, Florgasm applied for the guide and got it. I'm happy for Florgasm, though I feel as though the staff seem to be picking and choosing who they want to be editor for what..

I usually stay away from these tantrums, but using a blog to round up supporters with half truths, and second judging the staff’s integrity is out of line. I particularly enjoy the fact that two of the participants here have chosen this opportunity to take a break from "taking a break from the site" just to fuel this fire.

Once again, here we have a discussion about something that is nobody else’s business other than the involved parties’.

The Staff tries to hand out guides to the most suited editor, and we judge them by their history, including forum conduct, writing skills and conscientiousness. We couldn’t care less if you write badly on the forums, as long as you write properly in your guides. People make mistakes in posts because they lay back and choose not to pay attention to writing conventions ― which is totally understandable and acceptable. But if a person writes in that same manner in his guides, then that reveals negligence, and then we have to question if such person takes his position seriously. Like Zarius said, we are looking for some dose of professionalism here. The guides for popular shows are our face, and we must be demanding with editors that want them.

You’ve been putting in guides for completion for months, yet you always need to be told to check the spelling. You say you do that every time before putting in the request, but sometimes you overlook a few mistakes. Well, twice can be called overlooking; every time is slacking off.

As for your Smallville application: I remember that your application loosely said "I want to be editor because it’s a shame to see this guide without an editor." That hardly qualifies as a good reason. And as for why someone else got it a few days afterwards, that’s none of your business or your place to conjecture.

Also, WiseCrack is a Global Moderator, and not a Global Editor. Even though his opinion about your editing has its own merit, he was speaking as an editor alike ― not as an authority. I’m not saying we don’t agree with him; I’m saying you cannot take the opinion of a particular staff member (Global Moderator) and apply it to an unrelated issue (Global Editing).

You now have two guides for shows that are currently on the air. You are asking for another one and both applications had terrible mistakes, just like many of your complete guides do. I have pointed out some of them before, but we can’t hold your hand forever. If you can’t learn from your mistakes, then there’s not much else we can do.

The public discussion of these private issues is quite inappropriate and doesn’t bode well for anyone who wants to be a respected editor/member.

You can either take our advice and improve your work, and double your efforts, or keep throwing fits every time you don’t get what you want, and join the rank of every other spammer/troll that acted in the same way.

Actually, Murdock, I never said I'd be gone forever. I said I'd be coming back periodically if I have the time. I was just keeping my word. It's not as if I said "I'M NEVER COMING BACK!!!!" and then I come and post in this blog purely to "fuel the fire". crap, I've been gone for like two weeks now, so it's not like I was gone for two days and came back.

Anyway, as much as I hate to say it, the staff members did say that the more guides you submit for completion that need to be rechecked, the less your chances are of getting a new guide. Even so, I believe it would have been useful to put that in the reason why your application was rejected, so you wouldn't be left with a ton of questions unanswered.

I'll do the first one.

I may have overreacted, though that was because for months now I'd been waiting for the series to air, making it open for me to apply. I guess I just got my hopes up a little too high.
