» Here comes August
May 14 was commencement at my community college. I now have an Associates in Arts with Honors.

My friend AJ has his Associates in Criminal Justice. I am happy that we were able to graduate together.

I got the results from the basic skills test on July 3rd. I needed a combined score of 240 to pass and I got a 269. This test was a necessary thing to have completed, as I would not have been accepted as an education major at a four year school without it. It was a bit of a headache and I feel better now that it's done.

I head back for my final semester at my community college on August 26. I'm looking forward to the field work for my next two education classes. I am very excited to be halfway through the process of becoming a teacher. I have wanted to work with kids since I was a little kid and now I'm actually starting to assist with lessons and give them myself.

On July 25, my adviser from Greenville college called to inform me that they processed my application, lewis and clark transcript, and basic skills test scores and have accepted me. They'll need a final version of my transcript at the end of the year to transfer my upcoming classes but we can start filling out paperwork and looking at everything already completed in the meantime.

I have been told that I get a $5,000 reduction in tuition a year because of my high GPA from the community college. I am applying for additional scholarships and financial aid to try to get what will be a hefty bill trimmed down as much as possible. Now would be a convenient time to find an oil well in my backyard, especially now since I have also started considering living on campus. Several of my friends will be going there. I think it would be a fun adventure. The money is the only thing that would keep me living at home. But with gas being so much, would I really be saving that much living at home 32 miles away and commuting 64 miles round trip potentially five days a week? It all depends on what happens in my life the rest of the year. I have some time to consider it.

My best friend AJ and I went on our second annual road trip June 14-20. The destination this year was Colorado. Between me, AJ, and my Uncle Jerry (who we stayed with for the first three days of the trip) we came away with 380 pictures. I put a few dozen of them up on myspace if you'd like to take a look. We had a bit of a problem being behind schedule at times, but the trip went mostly relaxing and enjoyable. I had a really nice time.

My summer has been a good one. I've seen quite a bit of my friends and there have been many late nights. I'm a party animal, you know it. It's the best summer of my life and I cannot thank God enough for all the great people in my life.

Congrats on your accomplishments, Randy! Here's hoping you get some more financial aid. Those bastards didn't give me anything. Yay for owing the school $80,000!

Knew you pass it with a higher grade than need. Many congratulations Randy!

Also glad to hear that on both aspects you had a high grade on your GPA which lead you to have the reduction on your tuition, and also on having a great summer + with friends!

Cheers on a great start to your future college years
