» TV death number three - Dennis Weaver
The third TV star of the 60s & 70s has passed way this weekend.

Dennis Weaver, the slow-witted deputy Chester Goode in the TV classic western "Gunsmoke" and the New Mexico deputy solving New York crime in "McCloud," has died, his publicist said Monday. The actor was 81.

Weaver died of complications from cancer on Feb. 24 at his home in Ridgway, in southwestern Colorado, publicist Julian Myers said.

There is an old saying that events happen in threes. Darren McGavin, Donn Knotts and now Dennis Weaver all within a couple of days. They are all memories of my childhood.

Rest in Peace

Dennis Weaver did that freaky movie Dual and he stood out to me from then on. He is another who was in so many movies and TV shows that you just can't imagine he will no longer just appear in something. He will be sadly missed.

Did you notice that all three men had names beginning with "D"?

There's a hole in the TV world tonight with the loss of these three men. You just cannot say enough about Don Knotts' performance as Barney Fife (as I said in my blog -- five years, five Emmys is a pretty good indication!). My brother liked The Night Stalker a lot (I was a little young for it when it aired). And Sam McCloud was a joy on Sunday evenings on NBC (I was also too young to remember him on Gunsmoke -- actually, I just like saying "I was too young" LOL).

My thoughts and prayers to the families, friends, and fans of these three men we have lost this weekend.

Dual was one of the best movies ever..

Apparently he has been immortalized by having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Can there be any greater success?

I had a girlfriend that I was going to marry die of complications from cancer, but that only makes me sad to think of that...stuff..

RIP Don Knotts. Barny Fife and Mr. Chicken will live on.
