» Man, I hate feeling bored and depressed at the same time
Mood: blah
Hi everybody, how's it going? It's been a while since I blogged last but not much, or should I say nothing has changed in my life since then.

So, what's been going on with me? Well, it's been almost a year since I graduated and to be honest, I'm shocked that I haven't found a job...any job since then. Granted I haven't looked very hard, but to be honest, I don't know where to start. So what have I been doing with my time while looking (not very hard) for a job? Watching tv and spending time online. What sucks about that is that it's making me extremely bored, cranky, and depressed because I can only take so much of doing the same thing every day. I have no idea how my brother doesn't go crazy doing pretty much the same thing as me, because he's been out of work way longer than I have and he hasn't had any desire to go to school since he graduated from high school.

So, why did I mention that about my brother? Because I'm almost at the point of feeling like I am going crazy with the boredom and feeling blue about the lack of employment. What sucks is that where I live the unemployment rate is around 20% and if there's any place that's hiring, I don't have much experience in that particular field.

Hell, I'm so desperate to find a job that I'm extremely tempted to see what I have to do to get some sort of certificate to become a substitute teacher just so I can get out and work. Hell, I'd also be open to cleaning porta-potties as long as I can just get out and get a job.

I think you hit on a solution...take any job until you can find something in your field. My sister went to school in Minnesota to work in the air flight industry, either as a travel agent or as a flight attendant. But after 2 years she decided she wanted to get married instead, to a guy none of us had ever met. She did, and has never worked until this past year. Now she works as an home health aide. A far cry from her original plans.

So, do something which you will enjoy, even if it's not in the field you studied in.

Yeah, but what sucks is I don't know what will make me happy. Oh well, I guess I'm still young enough to figure that out.

I also still have no idea what I wanna do. At least now I can rule out pharmacy technician. However, you could always give that a try. Maybe you'll like it more than I do. I know CVS and Walgreens stores will train you -- no previous experience necessary! I started out making 9 bucks an hour, but I recently got a fifty cent raise, LOL.

Don't go spending that half-buck all at once now, Kelly.

Maybe you two girls can become a Thelma and Louise? Rob some people and then meet up with a Brad Pitt.

You know what's so bad about being both bored and depressed? If you were to find something to do, you're too down to care.

Pick a job... any job and keep looking.
