“Scandinavia's Next Top Model” is a reality TV series based on the original concept “America’s Next Top Model" created by supermodel Tyra Banks. It is broadcast on channel TV3 in Denmark, Norway and Sweden by Viasat. The show is very similar to the U.S. version of the show but the Scandinavian contestants are brought to Paris instead of NY or LA and they compete for a modeling contract with the Marilyn Modeling Agency and a make-up contract with L’Oreal cosmetics.
Since 3 countries are involved, 9 women from each country begin the competition and compete amongst themselves before it is narrowed down to only 3 remaining from each country. They still compete only with the contestants from the same country until the very end, when one competitor from each country remains and then a final winner is chosen.
The hosts for each of the countries have been the female supermodels Mini Anden from Sweden, Kathrine Sørland from Norway and Anne P from Denmark. In Sweden, Mini left the show after few seasons, and Malin Persson became that countries’ new host. After the contestants from the three countries have been brought together, the show is then hosted by American fashion expert, Cynthia Garrett. Tyra Banks, the founder of the original American version, has been asked to host or guest-host the show but she has had to decline. The coach on all every episode so far in all 3 seasons has been Herve Bernard and the posing coach has been Mariana Verkerk who also appears in Holland's Next Top Model as the runway coach and as a permanent judge. The runway coach is J. Alexander who is also the runway coach for the U.S. version of this series.
