On a scientific exploration of the Mediterranean Coast off of Egypt, the seaQuest uncovers an underwater structure that turns out to be an annex of the great library of Alexandria. Inside is an air pocket containing many valuable antiques and scrolls from many past cultures. However, word of their discovery gets out, and many Mediterranean nations lay claim to the objects from their past. They demand to get them back, and some say they would rather destroy the structure, rather than letting their items be taken by another country. Bridger is forced to call for a mediation between the confronting countries.
To complicate matters, Bridger is ordered to use the help from a special negotiating assistance team. Bridger is not happy about this, but finds their help useful. However, this team has their own hidden agenda. Will this confliction help or hurt the negotiations?

| Patricia Herd, who is credited as the “wife” of Admiral Noyce, is the real life wife of Richard Herd, who plays Adm. Noyce. Her character name is Janet, as that is what Bridger calls her, in her scene. | Technical Consultant Bob Ballard's ending comment:
Hello, I’m Bob Ballard from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. Over the years I’ve discovered shipwrecks from ancient Rome to the Titanic. What amazes me is their high state of preservation. The deep sea is like a giant refrigerator that preserves our past. Soon, we’ll be exploring the waters off China, in search of some of the oldest shipwrecks in the world; discoveries which could greatly alter our understanding of human history. Join me on the next adventure of seaQuest DSV. |
