Produced as two separate three part series, the "Dune" mini-series covers the three books of Frank Herbert's Dune trilogy. The first part, titled "Dune" covered the book "Dune". The second part was titled "Children of Dune" but covered both "Dune Messiah" and "Children of Dune". In this story, powerful ruling families fight over the dessert planet Arrakis, which is the only place where the substance known as "spice" comes from, with Paul Atreides becoming the leader of the native population and helping them to victory over the evil House Harkonnen. After achieving power, he must maintain power. As his children become of age, they must also deal with how best to hold the reins of power.
