 "Lonesome Dove" Summary
 
This Western adventure story is about 2 retired Texas Rangers “Robert Duvall” who plays “Augustus ‘Gus” McCrae” and Tommy Lee Jones who plays "Captain Woodrow F. Call”. The two very close friends
Decide to head to Montana and begin their own Cattle Ranch. They begin their long trek adding “Robert Urich” who plays “Jake Spoon” as they drive a head of 2600 Cattle along with them. They hire on additional hands to help them which include “Danny Glover” playing “Joshua Deets”, “Rick Schroder” as “Newt Dobbs” and “Timothy Scott” who plays “Pea Eye Parker” and others. On the way on their journey they incur many problems and lose some of the ranch hands they had hired to help them out. Also on the way to Montana Gus is thinking about trying to go to Nebraska to convince his old girlfriend “Lorena Wood” played by “Diane Lane” to give them a second chance on their relationship.

This mini-series was broadcast over a 4-night period in February 1989 with a huge star-studded cast. The series was so popular that it brought about sequels: “Return To Lonesome Dove” a 2nd mini-series in 1993; “Lonesome Dove: The Series” in 1994; and “Lonesome Dove:
