New Love, American Style

New Love, American Style

The "New Love American Style" premiered on 23 December 1985 on “ABC" and It aired Monday through Friday at 11:30 AM with each episode being 30 minutes long. This show had the same premise as the original series ”Love, American Style” that aired on “ABC” from 1969 to 1974. The original series began its’ first season as a 60 minute show. Its’ second season ran 30 minute long episodes but the show became so popular that it expanded back to a 60 minute format from the 3rd season on. Each episode of the show had two separate, independent stories with different guest stars in them that were always preoccupied with the subject of “LOVE”.

Almost every single episode had the word “Love” in its’ title. Both versions of the series were considered a Romantic anthology comedy series. The 2nd version of the show had one major difference in that it had a regular revolving cast that appeared from time to time in different episodes. These regulars were “Arsenio Hall”, “Bob Sagat”, “Larry Vigus” and “Laura Summer”. The great Actor, Composer, Producer & Singer “Lou Rawls” who sung the tittle theme song for the show "New Love American Style" passed away on 6 January 2006. This 2nd version of the show was not very well received and ended its’ run of original episodes after only 1 season on 28 May 1986.
