1 :01x01 - Stuck in the Middle with You

When his ex-wife goes to Africa to help flood victims with her new boyfriend, painter and decorator Jimmy Venables is roped into looking after his two teenage children, Alex and Molly. Not only that, he must deal with his formidable former mother-in-law Diana who feels he is incapable of doing so without her help.

2 :01x02 - Silence of the Clams

Jimmy reluctantly allows Molly and Alex to have a party. In order to keep Diana from finding out and telling his ex-wife, he takes her out to dinner. Once there, he learns far more about her than he ever wanted to know.

3 :01x03 - Lock Back in Anger

Jimmy's plan to introduce his girlfriend Siobhan to Diana, Molly and Alex goes awry.

4 :01x04 - Ripped Off

Jimmy buys Diana a computer to try and move her into the new century.

5 :01x05 - School of Hard Knocks

Jimmy tries to help Alex realise his true potential after getting a letter from the school. Siobhan and Kevin both feel neglected.

6 :01x06 - Let's Get Quizzical

To help try and win the pub quiz Jimmy asks his mother-in- law for help. When they are announced the winners Jimmy isn't happy when Diana insists on handing the prize money to another team when she realizes that she answered one of the questions wrongly.

7 :01x07 - Out of Africa

Ann's boyfriend returns for a few days. When it becomes obvious that he has an ulterior motive for his sudden return Diana and Jimmy are forced to work together to preserve their family life.

8 :02x01 - Web of Deceit

Diane and the children return from a holiday in Africa to find the house looking like a tip.

9 :02x02 - The Tattoo

Whilst Diana is taking a shower Jimmy accidentally sees her in the nude.

10 :02x03 - Tell Tale

Jimmy makes plans to have a game of poker with Bobby, Kevin and Siobhan.

11 :02x04 - Meet the Parent

Siobhan's father meets Jimmy for the first time.

12 :02x05 - Love and War

Diana is shocked when she visits her late husband's grave and discovers that flowers have been left there.

13 :02x06 - When She Came Back

When his ex wife comes for a visit Jimmy tries unsuccessfully to impress her.

Jimmy releases his inner feelings after a visit to the hospital.

And So This is Christmas

Jimmy and Diana's plans to give Molly and Alex a traditional normal family Christmas don't go exactly to plan. The school play finds everybody getting stressed.

16 :03x01 - Dawn of the Dad

Jimmy decides that he wants to a proper father to his children and parent them without Diana's help. Things don't quite as he planned though.

17 :03x02 - Not Love Actually

Jimmy thinks that Siobhan will want to be come engaged to him after he learns that Kev has got engaged.

18 :03x03 - Going Solo

Diana challenges Jimmy to audition for her choral society but she isn't prepared for the results.

19 :03x04 - Bad, Bad Old Days

Kev and Bobby take action when they think that Jimmy has started drinking again after splitting up with Siobhan.

20 :03x05 - The Lure of the Rings

When Jimmy discovers what Alex has been up to in his room he finds his skills of being a father pushed to the limit.

21 :03x06 - Damaged

Jimmy finds both his his work and his social life affected after Kev is injured at work.

22 :03x07 - The Law of the Skip

When Jimmy brings home a table tennis set chaos ensues.

23 :03x08 - Too Cool for School

Jimmy decides to start training after Diana laughs at how skinny he is.

24 :03x09 - There Will be Pud

Jimmy is looking forward to a nice quiet Chrstmas until fate and a farmyard animal become involved.
