Stoney Burke


Stoney Burke was a modern Western drama that aired on ABC during the 1962-63 TV season. Before he became Steve McGarrett on Hawaii Five-O, Jack Lord played the title character on a show that dealt with the adventures of a rodeo cowboy who desired to become the world's champion bronco rider. Warren Oates, Bruce Dern, and Robert Dowdell co-starred in this drama which aired to much critical acclaim but alas lasted only 32 episodes and one season on ABC. The series was released on DVD in April of 2013.

Unable to ride at the World Championships because of an injury, Stoney takes a job delivering horses to the slaughterhouse. One of the horses turns out to be a former champion and Stoney decides to save him from his fate.
