Sam Bailey was a widower who ran a charter fishing boat called The Island Princess based in Balboa, California.
Sam's son, Jim, was in love with Commodore Cecil Wyntoon's daughter, Barbara. The problem was that Bailey and Wyntoon despised one another, but the two lovebirds hoped their romance would change that.
