Aloni, a headstrong Hawaiian youth, is arrested for driving at high speed. Upon learning this, Acohi's boss fires him and the lad threatens his boss. The next day the boss is found murdered and Aloni is charged with homicide. A mustachioed tourist helps increase the tension that leads Oscar Kalahani to an identity crisis when his obfuscated nephew Kimo questions his place in the family. Oscar is forced to seek his heritage when he's caught in a racist mire in a murder investgation. He tries to help suspect Aloni but finds himself shut out by his people.

1x1: Gandy recap: In this first episode, the ranch is beset by a sugar cane blight, but that doesn't blight Keke's 18th birthday party. Keke is Karen Fears, old Barrett's niece, who he has raised since the death of her parents. Keke has been planning to buy herself her biggest present -a prize horse- with $2,500 she inherits on becoming 18. Along comes irresponsible but charming crop duster Gandy (Don Johnson), an old buddy of Mitch when the latter worked the Texas -Oklahoma oil fields. Gandy owed the bank $2,500 and a bank official (Peter Marshall) is threatening to foreclose his helicopter. Mitch and the crop duster have a little dust-up of their own when Mitch learns Gandy has wheedled the $2,500 from Keke. An oyster-eating contest will be a challenge to settle differences between these two guys...
