During an ancient war between beasts and birds, a colony of bats refused to take sides and they were banished into the darkness for their transgression. Years later, a young, fatherless bat named Shade decides to challenge the law by deliberately going into the sunlight, though in doing such, he causes the owls to demand he be handed over to them to face punishment for his crime. Now, with the bats in the colony refusing to hand him over, which garners the wrath of the owls, Shade leaves his colony to try to figure out what he should do next. The events in his life soon continue to escalate and he finds himself in the center of a battle that will determine the fate of the entire forest, though will his actions be able to transcend the fate woven by his ancestors?
