Many consider this to be one of the best medical dramas ever produced for television. Ben Casey was a show that was not afraid to touch on controversial subjects at the time and the show quickly became one of the most popular shows on ABC's lineup. Vince Edwards starred in the title role as Dr. Ben Casey, a neurosurgeon at the fictional County General Hospital. Sam Jaffe and later Franchot Tone co-starred as the older physicians who tried to advise and guide Casey.
