The American puppeteers Sid and Marty Krofft creation, inspired by the U.K. show
Spitting Image. DC Follies ran from 1987 to 1989, utilised Muppet-style foam puppets rather than rubbery caricatures, but it didn't come anywhere close to being as savage and vitriolic as Spitting Image. Set in a Washington, D.C. bar, where barkeep Fred Willard would welcome carricatured puppets of that day's politicians and celebrities.
