Haruhi Fujioka doesn’t care for vanity. She doesn’t even care if people get her gender wrong. Her hair is short, because a boy once stuck gum in her hair. Afterwards, she had no problem cutting it off. And since she’s a tomboy, many people confuse her to be a man. So when she enters Ouran Academy, Haruhi doesn't mind that the host club immediately places her in the male category.
Upon discovering the infamous Host Club, an accident leaves Haruhi with an eight million yen debt. In order to fix this, she has to work it off by being the club’s lackey. And later, she becomes an official Host Club member. However, the female population in the school still are oblivious to the fact that the Host Club's most sensitive and female-respecting member is, in fact, a girl.
