Semi-Finals 1 - Recap

It is the first round of the Semi-Finals and Cody Bell, Jagger, Pip Comic Illusionist, The Wolfe Brothers, Nat Harris, Sam McCool, Superhoodz and Laura Loe are performing for the Australia’s votes. Brian McFadden, Dannii Minogue and Kyle Sandilands are there to watch and critique of course. Grant comes out and welcomes the crowd. Dannii says that this is the next step and they need to step it up. Brian says that they were surprised on how good the acts were. It’s big time now. Kyle says that it is a lot of stress and the nerves are immense. However, if they muck up, they can have a bit of a laugh.

First up for the night is Jagger. He says that he had the best experience when he was in the auditions. He says that he is not into opera or pop. He says that he is a rocker. He says that he is going to do a medley. He comes out and drums. Afterward, he gets a standing ovation. Brian says that it is amazing that he is only 9 years old and already that good. He says that he is a superstar. Dannii says that it was a great performance because he has it all. Kyle says that he is the modern day Annie and says that he is a joy to be around.

Cody Bell is next. He says that he was bullied in High School because people didn’t understand him. However, he is a lot stronger now. He says that he is going to sing modern songs and says that this is his moment. He comes out and sings. Afterward, he gets a standing ovation. Dannii says that they never know what to expect who is going to crack and who is going to go for it. She says that he is one of them that went for it. Kyle says that he has a beautiful voice and he admits that he might have cracked. He says that all of the emotion that he felt went into the song and says that it was great. Brian says that he nailed the song regardless of it being hard. He says that he was awesome.

Next up is Superhoodz. They say that there are a lot of broken homes and abused children and they organized the group to help them. They have pressure on the competition and want to show that they have what it takes. They come out and dance. Afterward, they get a standing ovation. Kyle says that they looked like they were joined together and says that he loved it. Bryan says that it was very tight and entertaining. Everything was great and was impressed with it. Dannii says that Kyle is below them and would never be in their crew. She says that they stuck to what they do best and says that they need to keep doing what they are doing.

Nat Harris is up next. She has dedicated her life to be a performer and wants to help her career. She says that she dislocated her ankle and was forced to change her routine a bit. She says that it is going to be painful, but worth it. She comes out and gets on a rope. She does what she does best. Afterward, Brian gives her a standing ovation. Bryan says that he didn’t like the acting part, but loved the ropes swinging. Danny says that she was great and says that it was spectacular. Kyle liked it and loved how she involved him. He says that he couldn’t tell that she was injured.

Next is Pip Comic Illusionist. He says that he didn’t think that he was going to get past the auditions. He says that he has been doing this for a while and wanted to get his name out. He is going to do something that will push the boundaries. He comes out and does a simple card trick and then goes and gets handcuffed in the crate. Dannii says that she loved it and she says that she almost had a heart attack when he scared him. Kyle says that he loved it and says that it was great. Bryan says that he needed to tighten it up and says that he wasn’t fooled. Kyle says that he is making that up and says that it was great.

The Wolfe Brothers are next. They say that they started off in pubs and they have different jobs. They say that they want to make the band their full time job and say that they hope to make it to the next level. They come out and sing “Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy”. Afterward, Bryan gives them a standing ovation. Kyle says that he loved it and says that he is not usually into the Hillbilly Rock and says that they were great. Bryan says that it was great and excellent. He says that it is real Aussie Rock. Dannii says that they are great because they have heart and soul and hope that they get further.

Sam McCool is up next. He says that he is a rough diamond and says that he grew up in a rough neighborhood. He says that there are a lot of expectations. He comes out on stage and he makes joke about the English and Irish. He has a lot of accents. Afterward, he gets a standing ovation. Bryan says that it was a slick performance and says that he can go all the way. Dannii says that it was edgy and provocative. Kyle says that at the beginning it was a little slow, but he made it great and got a lot of laughs.

Last up for the night is Laura Loe. She says that she started singing at 6-years-old and says that she has her family fly from Malaysia to watch her perform. She comes out and sings “You and I” by Lady Gaga. Afterward, she gets a standing ovation. Dannii says that she has been on an emotional journey and says that she owned that stage and performed so well. Kyle says that she looks fantastic and sounded great. Bryan says that he was not expecting her to show a rock song and says that she showed that she could possibly win this. That is it for the performances! Next are the results!
