John Churchill is a young career soldier serving under the Duke of Monmouth, illegitimate son of King Charles II. Sarah Jennings is a lady-in-waiting to the Duchess of York, the King's sister-in-law. The two meet at a masqued ball and sparks fly. Thus begins a great love story as the two begin their climb at court.
