 "Strike It Rich" Summary

“Strike It Rich” was one of the earliest game shows that allowed very unfortunate people to win money. These unfortunates were people who had some type of tragedy in their lifetime. Some of the tragedies included people, who had suffered a major injury, had a fatal disease, had their house burnt to the ground or lost loved ones in an auto accident. Some viewers believed the show was a great noble series to help unfortunate people down on their luck. Others believed it was the most sickening display of exploiting people they had ever seen just to thrill home viewers.

This series first aired on the national CBS radio station in 1947. The host of this series was Warren Hull who was born John Warren Hull whose first national appearance was in the romantic musical comedy film “All For One” in 1935. Warren also was the second person to play the character of the “Green Hornet” and his alter ego “Brit Reid” in the action, crime drama film “The Green Hornet Strikes Again!” in 1941. “Strike It Rich” aired on the same night and at the same time every week for the entire 4 season run ending on 12 January 1955.
