 "The Manhunter" Summary

A 1930s detective show which starred Ken Howard as Dave Barrett, a former Marine who turned bounty hunter after the death of his fiancee in a bank robbery. Barrett traveled the highways and byways of the nation during the Great Depression and did battle against the public enemies of that era. Robert Hogan played his occasional sidekick, Sheriff Paul Tate, and Ford Rainey, Hilarie Thompson, and Claudia Bryar played the immediate members of Barrett's family. The Manhunter was produced by the legendary Quinn Martin and his QM Productions. Martin had previously produced such shows as The Fugitive, The FBI, Cannon, The Streets of San Francisco, Barnaby Jones, and 12 O'Clock High. Unfortunately for Martin, despite a pretty big buildup the ratings for The Manhunter never really took off and the show was cancelled after one season on the air.
