1 :01x01 - A Little Shuck and a Whole Lotta Jive

Kaz is caught in a dilemma when he agrees to defend an accused killer of a musician. The victim's wife forsakes Kaz as a friend when he tells her of his intentions. Kaz is confident that the accused killer and the victim were at each other's throats because of adultery.

Singer Carol Lawrence guest-stars as Anita.

Johnny is accused of killing Anita's husband, Buddy. Kaz gets into a touchy position when asked by Johnny to defend him because Buddy is also a friend of Kaz's.

To complicate matters, Anita accuses Johnny's wife, Gail, of having had an illicit affair with her late husband, but Johnny claims that it was Buddy who came on strong towards Gail.

2 :01x02 - Verdict in Department 12

Bennett, Kaz's employer, thinks he's being too harsh when the judge and the district attorney fail to respond to his evidence which proves his client innocent.

As a last resort, Kaz investigates the judge's past and comes up with the answer.

Kaz's employer, Bennett, thinks his young protege is being too harsh when a judge dismisses his evidence in defence of his client. Kaz is positive his client is innocent and when he falls to get an acquittal, he delves Into the Judge's past and comes up with some dark secrets.

Kaz realises that he is fighting not only the district attorney but the judge too in his next case.

Kaz's client, David, makes a confession before he goes on trial. Kaz feels that David is innocent but has made the confession because he's running scared. His defence tactics are constantly overruled by Judge Gilquist but Kaz's boss, Bennett, thinks Kaz is against Gilquist because his own defence is cracking-up.

Kaz's ex-cellmates ask him to act as a go-between when they take over the prison where he served time.

In today's episode, Kaz is compelled to return to his old prison, after learning that his friends in his old cell block have started a riot to back some demands.

Reluctantly he goes back and finds himself in a predicament when his friends ask him to be their intermediary. Having shrugged off the past, he does not know now to cope with its re-emergence in his life.

When Peter Colcourt turns down his sister Linda's request to defend an accused 72-year-old shoplifter, Molly, Kaz steps in to take over the case. In the process, he also falls In love with Linda Colcourt and enrages the District Attorney.
