Heartland delves into the dramatic world of organ donation and the lives of a recently divorced couple working in both sides of the industry. Kate (Kari Matchett) is an organ-recovery coordinator whose job is to persuade family of victims to donate their loved one's organs. Nathaniel Grant (Treat Williams) is a highly-renowned organ-transplant surgeon who harvests and implants organs to those in need to them. This series explores the second chances that organ donation brings, as well as the affect organ-donation has lives of those involved.
