After his wife is tragically murdered, Det. Sergeant Samuel Cavanaugh resigns from the force and decides to become a priest. He is assigned to the San Diego area where he once served on the police force. He becomes involved in solving the crimes even though he has resigned off the police force. Academy Award winner George Kennedy starred in the title role.
