Season 1
S-1

  Season 1
The season really consisted of 20 episodes, each 1/2 hour long (including advertising spots). Each episode contained three, self-contained stories, which is why most sources cite 60 episodes. The first story was about Birdman, the middle story about The Galaxy Trio, and the final story was another Birdman adventure (but generally unrelated to the first adventure).

Birdman generally fought some crazed madman, as often as not, this individual worked for or belonged to F.E.A.R., a shadowy organization dedicated to its own enrichment or possibly to controlling the world - its motives seemed to vary. Perhaps it saw the former as a path to the latter. In most cases, these madmen developed a special and unique technology (or, more rarely, a personal power) that enabled them to challenge Birdman. Many were bitter at a society that scoffed at their genius or scorned their outré ideas. Typically, an episode would start well for a villain, who would achieve his early goals. This prompted Falcon 7 to call on Birdman, who would confront the villain. Often, this battle resulted in defeat for Birdman when he exhausted his reserves of solar energy, forcing him to either flee or escape imprisonment. His eagle companion Avenger was usually helpful in staging these escapes. Once free, a flight to the high atmosphere and exposure to the sun would fully charge Birdman who would then return for a second battle. Many villains blew themselves and their bases to bits rather than face capture, although in a few cases this did not spell their end.

Galaxy Trio stories were set in the far future but followed similar themes and tropes. Typically their foes would achieve early goals chiefly because the Galaxy is a big place and the Trio cannot be everywhere. But once they arrived, they'd combine forces to rout the villains quickly.
