Verbotene Liebe is a German soap opera about Sex, Money and Power. 13 years around affairs, blackmails, murder, alcoholism, tragic deaths and forbidden loves. In the beginning it was the silbies Jan Brandner (Andreas Brucker) and Julia von Anstetten (Valerie Niehaus). They don't know each other, because their parents raised their separate from each other. Julia raised up by her mother, Clarissa (Isa Jank) and adopted by her mother's new husband Christoph von Anstetten (Jürgen Zartmann). In the meantime, Jan was raised by his father Arno (Konrad Krauss). Julia and Jan met for the first time at the Düsseldorf Airport and fall in love with each other, without knowing who the other person really is.

Since then there is always a forbidden love around, such as: Marie von Beyenbach (Solveig Duda) and Henning von Anstetten (Patrik Fichte), Felix von Beyenbach (Stefan Kirch) and his cousin Vanessa (Inez Björg David), Cécile de Maron (Yvonne Burbach) and her stepson Leonard von Lahnstein (Lars Korten) and Anne Siebert (Tabea Heynig) and her student Paul Brandner (Tobias Schönenberg). Most of the forbidden loves hadn't a happy end, but there is always hope. Now we seeing the love of Leonard and Sarah Hofmann (Sina-Valeska Jung). They both felt in love with each other, but eventually found out, that they share the same father with Johannes von Lahnstein (Thomas Gumpert). Both tried to move on and married other people, when the truth came out, that Leonard's mother had an affair and Leonard is the son of Adrian Degenhardt (Klaus Zmorek), Johannes enemy. We also seeing the beginning of the love story between Sebastian von Lahnstein (Joscha Kiefer) and Lydia Brandner (Theresa Underberg).

In the opposite, they were and are always intrigues in the show. The big villain of the show became Tanja von Anstetten (Miriam Lahnstein) over the years. She murdered, blackmailed and destroyed true loves. With Charlie Schneider (Gabriele Metzger) and Clarissa von Anstetten, Tanja became two longtime enemies. In 2001, Tanja took Clarissa as a hostage on a flight, when the plane crashed and both seemed death. Tanja came back very much alive three years later. It was never mentioned what happened to Clarissa. Other villains on the show were Sylvia Jones (Heike Brentano) and Bernd von Beyenbach (Ron Holzschuh). Still in the picture is Ansgar von Lahnstein (Wolfram Grandezka), who shares a son, Hannes, with Tanja and not to forget Adrian Degenhardt, the enemy of the Lahnstein family.
