: Allen Miller, a young ex-con who looks 1957 Harvardish in whom Chad has an interest comes along and asks his daughter for a date, throwing old Janet into a mild state of apoplexy and putting Chad very much on the spot.
"Chad," she says, "how we go out Friday
night when we know that she's alone with
"Ex-con?" he says.
"How can you?" she says again, and finally relenting, says, "alright, you win, but you know something? I think the world would make a lot more sense if the mothers were in charge."
Daughter Cindy and the ex-con stay out late, of course, and Janet an Henry are about to call the cops when she is finally delivered home unplundered and Chad admits he has second thoughts about rehabilitation when it "hits that close to home."
Cindy gives him a terribly moralistic lecture but all ends well when the ex-con says he understands their concern because its a manifestation of love, and Cindy is repentant and wants to know how her parents "can put up with a couple of righteous kids?".. read more.
