Nan Gallagher is a single mom and works as a TV talk show host. Needing help around the home and with her daughter, Nan places an advertisement in the paper for a housekeeper. But the ad was answered by an English butler who is not very fond of Americans and is a bit arrogant and pompous, but he figures he will give the job a try, as does Nan.
