Savannah

Savannah

"Savannah" was a short-lived Aaron Spelling drama that aired on The WB in the late 1990's. It centered around three lifelong friends who lived in the sprawling town of Savannah, Georgia: Reese Burton (Shannon Sturges), the naive daddy's girl who was intent on making her own way into the world after discovering her fiance's many deceptions; Lane McKenzie (Robyn Lively), the cynical and determined journalist who briefly left Savannah for a career in New York, before returning home after things didn't pan out for her; and Peyton Richards (Jamie Luner), the manipulative and embittered siren who is constantly reconciling her love for her friends with her jealousy and desire of Reese Burton's rich, pampered lifestyle - a lifestyle she feels she deserves, after living for twentysomething years as the maid's daughter; only to discover she's actually the illegitimate daughter of Reese's own father, Ed Burton (Ray Wise). These three friends found their lives twisted out of recognition after the discovery of Travis Peterson's (George Eads) many lies and deceits, and banded together to start over.

But they weren't the only inhabitants of Savannah whose lives were turned upside down: there was Veronica Koslowski (Beth Toussaint), an experienced con artist who turned up in town with her partner, Tom Massick (Paul Satterfield), intent on swindling Ed Burton out of his money - but after Tom's motives for the con became muddled, Veronica headed out on her own, determined to win Ed over herself - while Tom worked his ample charms on rich daughter Reese. Lane's high school sweetheart, Dean Collins (David Gail) also found himself drawn into the tawdry world of "Savannah" - but when his feelings for Lane resurfaced, things got more complicated than either were prepared to deal with.

For two seasons, these people lied to, cheated on, manipulated and loved each other - and those of us lucky enough to catch the dramatic proceedings will never forget the unassuming town of Savannah, Georgia.
