The show was sold to two different networks almost simultaneously with different packaging based on the audience of the two networks. The show was titled Inside American Jail for an initial airing on Court TV, beginning August 2, 2007, and it had an instrumental rock theme. Then the show aired as Jail on MyNetworkTV, beginning September 4, 2007, with a hip-hop theme by Lil Droppa.
