Head nurse Mary Benjamin decides to resume her career after the death of his husband, a former physician. She returns to work at Grant Memorial Hospital in New York City. Besides her son, Chip, leaves for the college. At the hospital, her friend and confident is Dr. Peter Rose and she turns to him whenever she's besieged by problems. The series was based upon the novel "Nurse" by Peggy Anderson.
