It was decorated by one of the few remaining great decorators who still works in a traditional style—lots of English chintz, pretty French toiles and antique furniture. It's a style not seen very often anymore, maybe because it's too pretty. Lynda considers the absence of pretty in our design world and wonders, "What happened to pretty, and what is the new pretty?"

House & Home publisher Lynda Reeves recalls a young house guest who took a tour of her home and then remarked it was just like all of her others—beige. Lynda took a closer look and realized that, despite at least twelve shades of grey, taupe and cream on her walls, floors and furniture, her young guest was right. Her choices were all outside of the color spectrum, which left Lynda asking the question, "Are we stuck in neutral?"
