In the traditional South African village of Nqekwane, six athletes take on Zulus in the deadly sport of stick fighting, share in initiation ceremonies and take magic potions to fight at a Zulu royal wedding.
 
3 :01x03 - Tarahumara Endurance Race (Oct/18/2007)
In Mexico's Copper Canyon, the six athletes run a marathon against the indigenous Tarahumara people, famous for their long-distance running skills.
 
4 :01x04 - Sumi Kick Fighting (Oct/25/2007)
The competitors take on a team of former headhunters, the Sumi of Nagaland (a province in northern India), for a bout of Aki Kiti, a form of kickboxing that uses the soles of the feet as the only weapon.

In Mongolia, the athletes prepare for a Nadaam, a national festival that includes a wrestling competition, but first they undertake unpleasant tasks involving a herd of goats.
 
6 :01x06 - Trobriand Cricket (Nov/08/2007)
The athletes visit Kiriwina, an island in the Solomon Sea of the southwestern Pacific, during a festival called Mila Mala, where they engage in a unique version of cricket that includes taunts, magic and physical intimidation.
 
7 :01x07 - Senegalese Wrestling (Nov/15/2007)
It's off to a wrestling boot camp where the athletes compete against the locals in their national sport.
 
8 :01x08 - Sepik Canoe Racing (Nov/29/2007)
The athletes train with the Sepik, a jungle tribe in Papua, New Guinea, for their canoe race, but the real challenge comes from sleeping in snake-ridden shelters and surviving crocodile-infested waters.
 
9 :01x09 - Kraho Log Running (Dec/06/2007)
The athletes compete in a Kraho log race, in which teams of runners compete to carry a log, in a village in Brazil as part of a ceremony called the Witi, where the granddaughter of the chief of the village comes of age.
 
10 :01x10 - Andean Ice Race (Dec/13/2007)
The athletes compete in the Qoyllur Rit'i festival at Paqchanta in the Andes and a race to cut a block of ice from a glacier at over 17,000 feet.
 
11 :01x11 - Java Martial Arts (Dec/20/2007)
The athletes compete in a local sport called Pencak Silat, a form of martial arts practiced in the Indonesian village of Cikaramat in West Java..
 
12 :01x12 - Vanuatu Canoe Race (Dec/20/2007)
The athletes compete in an ocean canoe race between local island fishermen on the South Pacific island of Wala in Vanuatu.
