High school student Light Yagami finds a mysterious notebook labeled "DEATH NOTE", which feel from the sky. After reading the instructions for the book, he believes it to only be a chain note, but his curiosity gets the best of him and he learns the secret powers the book contains.

| Light: (thinking to himself) Jeez...thinking about this really makes you realize just how many people the world would actually be better off without.
