POWW: Powerful Women of Wrestling

POWW: Powerful Women of Wrestling

“POWW” – The Powerful Women of Wrestling was the 2nd of 3 ventures that owner/promoter/host “David McLane” made to run his own “All Women” only wrestling organization. His 1st venture began in 1986 with “GLOW” – The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling that was also syndicated. After only 1 season on the air David left his own organization upset, because he didn’t like the way the “Money Men” or backers were controlling his show turning it into a 3-ring circus of craziness, silliness and stupid skits. He wanted more focus on wrestling and less on comedy so he started up POWW and some of his best athletes went on along with him. The show never really took off and only lasted 1 season because there was not enough interest in pure wrestling with women and the WWE had all the rest covered. In 2000 he tried for a 3rd time with “WOW” but it also only lasted 1 season. Rumors continue to this day that he has been trying for years to get the backing to try a 4th venture.
