Survivors 2008
I only caught the last [episode 6] in this series because I didn"t know that it was on. I later caught up with the others on BBC i player though.
Anyway, It tells a very gripping storyline where not only do you discover that your loved ones and friends have died of the virus but everybody you"ve ever known - the people whom you meet working in the newsagents, supermarkets, work colleagues or even everyone you ever saw in the pubs & clubs has perished.
Abby [Julie Graham] is one of the survivors who luckily meets a few others who are complete strangers to each other. They have to put the past behind them to face the daily struggle for survival. This seems realistic considering how human beings club together in times of great loss [9 11 anyone?]The towns are too dangerous to venture into without great care with the risk of disease from unburied bodies and bands of vagrant human beings reduced to savagery.
The personality clashes are overcome in the group as they fight to escape from ex-health minister Samantha [/Nikki+Amuka-Bird] who has formed a dubious self-elected government, enlisting the help of armed thugs like Gavin etc. A helicopter sucpsiously hovers overhead apparently photographing the remaining survivors unbeknown to them looking for a survivor to take blood samples from in order to find a vaccination cure for the virus.
Overall a very good series with great camera shots & special effects Although probably covers a lot of ground too quickly as it"s only 6 episodes long.
