| 1 :01x01 - Episode 1 (Jan/13/2008) | Laura, the oldest child in the Timmins family, sets off for a new life and work in nearby Candleford when a new baby arrives in the family.
Candleford is the market town which provides services such as the Post Office where she finds herself starting her new job working for the Postmistress Dorcas Lane.
Tensions start to run high between Larkrise and Candleford over the poorer community having to pay for telegram deliveries, while Candleford do not, due to Larkrise supposedly being more than 8 miles away – the Postmistress and local Squire Sir Timothy quietly scheme to resolve the issue for both sides saving face.
Bubbly neighbour to the Timmins, Caroline Arless, gets herself caught up with debt and the threat of prison when she succumbs to a barrel of beer on credit.

| 8 :01x08 - Episode 8 (Mar/02/2008) | | I this episode the main story is the new school master Mr Delafield. He doesn't get off to the best starts with Dorcus the post mistress but things change when a tree on Sir Timothy's estate was weakened in a storm the previous night, it reminds Dorcus and Timothy of their childhood love for one another. They begin to show their feelings but Dorcus decides its time to move on. Timothy doesn't like the idea and from then on trys to sabotage Delafield and Dorcus' relationship. Timothy then finds a way to get Delafield out leaves Dorcus upset. It is very clear they still love each other. When Adelaide hears that Dorcus likes Delafield she immeadiately perks up from her sullness. | |
