Limburg, 1760. The Austrian empress rules the land and enforces heavy taxes on the farmers. More and more farmers are forced to work in the dangerous mines. Martien Kremers, a farmers boy of 14 years old, wants to save his family from perdition and plans to solve their problems. After having done this, he has to do everything to keep the truth hidden. He will have to deal with famers, government and "The Bokkerijders".
