"Coogan's Run" Summary |

Steve Coogan is the man behind Coogan's Run. This short, six episode series, is all about showcasing the diverse talents of Coogan in the roles of his various characters.
That being said, this series is a little difficult to classify. Each episode focusses on a different character of Coogan's, and each of the stories are fairly unrelated, yet they all seem to take place in – or at least around – the same village: Ottle. We can see the stories are related by place since we always get a glimpse of another character, not central to that particular episode, within another episode, just to remind us that this is one close real world in which they all live. This technique will be seen again in the comedy The League of Gentlemen; yet, whereas that show is sketch based, this one is definitely standard narrative based. The key to the success of both, are the vivid and well rounded characters. |
