There are three well-respected judges on So You Think You Can Dance: Jason Coleman, Bonnie Lythgoe and Matt Lee. This dynamic and incredibly experienced judging panel held auditions in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne – where Bonnie, Matt and Jason have the mammoth task of selecting who will earn the highly-prized ticket straight through to Sydney's Top 100 and who will still have to work harder with a second round of judging.
The contestants that the judges want to see dance again then have the pleasure of working with Matt and learning some of his choreography. They then perform this in 'Dance For Your Life' at which point the judges will make their final selections for the Top 100.
The Top 100 hit Sydney for an exhausting week of choreography and auditions where with every performance they are dancing for their lives. They have choreography to learn in Hip Hop, Ballroom and Jazz from some of Australia's best, and throughout this process contestants are eliminated. They will also perform in groups and the very best – those that remain – will go on to perform solos on their last day.
The judges then make their toughest and most important decision – who will be in the So You Think You Can Dance Top 20. The Top 20 will then go on to perform for the nation in the studio component of the program.
