 "Latin American Idol" Summary
 
“Latin American Idol” is another Music Talent show fashioned after “Pop Idol” from England. There are currently over 50 shows worldwide with this type of a format. The 2 countries with the most different versions of the series are Germany tied with the U.S. This version broadcast from Argentina draws contestant talent from Mexico, Central America and South America, except Brazil who began their own series in 2005 titled “Pop Star”. Season 1 of this version began on 12 July 2006 and they will have their 3rd season in 2008.

Some of the places they held live auditions in Season 1 were Mexico City: April 22 - 23 Caracas, Venezuela: April 29 - 30 Bogota, Colombia: May 5 - 6 and in Buenos Aires, Argentina: May 16 – 17. The age range for this version is from 18 to 30 years old. The winner receives a recording contract from Sony BMG and a brand new automobile. Auditions for Season 3 are: March 29, 2008 - Buenos Aires, Argentina April 11, 2008 - Bogota, Colombia April 19, 2008 - Caracas, Venezuela April 26, 2008 - Mexico City, México May 3, 2008 - Panama City, Panama.
