salmon fishing at Bristol Bay
A great show, however how tough was the patrol duties of the Troopers shown in that show? I mean a fancy new high powered patrol boat, at least two Troopers in that boat, plus others in Planes and around. A Dillingham City Police Department. It looked like "easy duty" to me.
what happen to "One riot, one Trooper"?

As back in 1969 during the "Fishing Strike", No Dillingham Police Department, No Trooper Detachment, No high powered patrol boats,
air planes. 5,000 fishermen on strike. "Shots fired, nets cut, boats burned",
"Nac-nik River blockaded", "Canneries barricaded", groups of 10-20 walking around with clubs, rifles, & shotguns, fights-assaults, going on.

ONE RIOT (see Anchorage Daily News articles summer 1969).

ONE TROOPER, (me- Trooper R.M. "Ron" Costlow) sent down from my "One man" post at Aniak, (57,518 sq. miles beat), to "handle it"?
Now that was "Tougher in Alaska". What do you do? when you stepped
off the plane at the Dillingham airport and the first thing you, as a Trooper
had to deal with, was a person threatening to shot another person as you are deplaning. "Handle it".

As you are driving into the town of Dillingham you notice groups of people, (10-20) milling around carrying clubs, rifles, & shotguns, what do you do, as a lone Trooper? "Handle it", and during the next seven days you and the lone Trooper stationed at King Salmon join forces and "handle it", and that is one story for "TOUGHER IN ALASKA" as an ALASKA STATE TROOPER, you may want to consider for an episode.

And there are many more stories about How does Law Enforcement "Handle it" in the remote parts of Alaska, (than & now).

Like the "new" One-man Aniak Post I as a recruit Trooper was assigned to open up and man (57,518 sq. miles- BEAT) in 1969 .

"Bush Justice Alaska Style" - 1969 you "Handled it". NO back up, NO radios-communications, NO patrol vehicles, Just you and your Irish wit.
(The "Cream of the Crop") So you are told.
