The Flying Fish Zombification - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Wendy and Lacey are at their sublet and Wendy is talking to her mother by phone while Lacey prepares a promotional piece of artwork for their upcoming show, Art Crawl. Wend isn't thrilled at hearing from her mother but Lacey notes that at least her mother cares, and she only hears from her mother Dr. Barbara Thornville MD PhD once a year. Wendy convinces Lacey to invite her mother to Art Crawl and Lacey tries to get through, only to end up on hold.

At Middleman HQ, the Middleman and Ida take Wendy to her first training session with Sensei Ping. Ida warns that Wendy won't survive the experience and even the Middleman is nervous. Wendy goes into the dojo for an hour and emerges unscathed, saying it was the greatest experience in her life.

At home, Wendy learns that Lacey's mother finally said that she'd attend Art Crawl, but Lacey is concerned that her mother actually offered to reschedule to attend. As they prepare for Art Crawl, Ida calls to summon Wendy: they have a report of a woman on her camping honeymoon who threw an RV at her husband and then tried to eat him. Wendy departs, but not before promising to Lacey she'll be at Art Crawl.

The pair goes to the hospital and visits the husband, Rod Argent. He apathetically explains that they were out in the countryside and had been fishing, and he was covered with trout guts. His wife Bonnie Blue came back from the lake and tried to chew his face off. He was bitten and the Middleman draws a curtain and loudly announces that they'll have to destroy Rod's brain so he won't turn into a zombie. Wendy objects and Rod cries in horror, convincing the Middleman he's not a zombie since they lack a self-preservation instinct. As they leave, the two of them exchange Sensei Ping sayings, with Wendy coming out on top. Ida calls with a report of a zombie sighting.

Lacey and Noser confront neighbor Pip, who is taking down Wendy's paintings so he can put up his own. Lacey snaps at him until Noser warns her that Pip's father owns the building all the artists sublet. Pip wants to give a performance piece at Art Crawl and Lacey tells him no.

Bonnie Blue is rampaging in a fish market, searching for trout. The Middleman doses her with tranquilizers and they take her to Middleman HQ. Bonnie hasn't undergone total transformation but her heart is racing out of control and she'll die in a matter of hours if they don't find a cure. With time running short until Art Crawl, Wendy insists on driving and convinces the Middleman to let her by invoking Sensei Ping again.

Lacey gets a call from her mother, saying she has an emergency meeting with Henry Kissinger and has to cancel her attendance at Art Crawl.

Wendy begins to wonder if the Middleman is jealous of her close relationship with Sensei Ping, who previously considered the Middleman his favorite student. Lacey calls Wendy to give her the news, and wants to know if Wendy is going to cancel so Lacey has time to get ready. Wendy promises that she'll be there. They arrive at the campground and Wendy starts checking out the area while the Middleman talks to Ida. Ida has determined that Bonnie was a bitten by a Peruvian Flying Pike, and its venom transforms its victims into trout-hungry zombies. The Middleman is unaware that a pike is attacking Wendy, who is beating it to death. Ida warns that they need a living specimen to make a cure… as Wendy kills the fish. Fortunately, Wendy finds a tag for the Odyssey fishery. They go there and find the owner is breeding Peruvian Flying Fish. A foreman leads several workers against them, but Wendy uses Sensei Ping's Pain Dance to dispose of them. She then forces the foreman to reveal that he works for a mysterious Mr. White, who pays in cash and picks up the fish once a month. Wendy considers the case closed and prepares to head out for Art Crawl, but the Middleman warns that they still have to make an anonymous call to the police and track down Mr. White.

Noser finishes his performance piece and Lacey prepares to go on stage. She calls Wendy, who tells her to buy her some time so she can get there. Lacey reluctantly lets Pip perform. Ida has come up with a cure from the Pike recovered at the fishery and they cure Bonnie. However, the Middleman insists that Wendy sty and help him locate their Mr. White. Wendy suspects that he's dumping extra work on her because she's now Sensei Ping's favorite student and he denies it, warning that it's all part of the job. She angrily leaves for Art Crawl.

The audience is suffering through Pip's lousy performance when Wendy arrives. Lacey takes to the stage as the Middleman wonders if Wendy is right. He then tries to contact Wendy, who refuses to answer his page, and he finally goes to the sublet. The Middleman informs Wendy that there's been another zombie outbreak and they need to leave, and Wendy reluctantly goes with him back to Middleman HQ. They give the cure to the new victim, Heidi, but before they can interrogate her, Lacey arrives. Wendy tries to explain without much success and even the Middleman's efforts don't help. Lacey storms off and they talk to Heidi. She reveals that she's a model for a new energy drink, !!!!, and stole some samples which she found highly addictive. The Middleman smells something fishy: trout in the drink. Heidi gives them the address of the warehouse where she tried out for the role.

Wendy and the Middleman find vats of !!!!, all contaminated with Peruvian Flying Pike venom. The foreman from the fishery arrives and reveals that he is Mr. White. He helpfully explains that a Flying Pike in Peru bit him, but a native gave him the cure. Now Mr. White plans to distribute his energy drink across the world, and rake in the money as the zombified customers crave the trout flavor. He's turned the FDA Deputy Commissioner into a fish-zombie so he can pass the government inspection. He then drops dead trout on the Middleman and Wendy and unleashes three zombified models to attack them. The duo runs into an office and lock the door to buy themselves time. Wendy admits that she screwed up and rubbed the Middleman's face in her success with Sensei Ping. The Middleman says it's not important right now and offers to show her the Devil's Dance. They go outside and using it, defeat the zombies. They call in Ida to administer the antidote and then head for the Middlemobile. When Wendy notes that Mr. White has too much of a head start, the Middleman suggests she uses the spare key. It unleashes a secret turbojet and they rocket to the distribution test center, easily defeating Mr. White.

Later, Wendy apologizes to Lacey and Lacey accepts her apology, hoping that they're good. Wendy is working on a new painting of a fish-woman-zombie, and Lacey suggests they do a supernatural theme for their next Art Crawl.
