Alec Guinness starred as George Smiley, a retired British Intelligence chief, who was called back into action to investigate the possible penetration of the intelligence service by a deep cover Soviet agent or "Mole." The series aired in seven parts on British television in the fall of 1979 and in the United States on PBS the following year. |
