Hazel

Show Tidbits
Thelma Ritter was the first choice to play Hazel but bowed out due to ill health.

In 1974, Bobby Buntrock's car slipped off the side of a South Dakota highway and into a hole filled with flood water. Buntrock died attempting to escape the overturned car.

When the show moved from NBC to CBS for the 1965-1966 season, Shirley Booth reportedly paid the costs of producing the new episodes.

Hazel aired on NBC for its first four seasons, and on CBS for its final season.

The show's first season was filmed in black and white while the remaining seasons were filmed in color.

The dining room, kitchen, and exterior of the Baxter house were used in 1965 as the home of Russell and Gidget Lawrence in Gidget. Both shows were Screen Gems productions.
