It is 2052. The space ship Star Runner is two years into a 90-year journey to a planet in the Silver Sun solar system.

With a crew of 13 - seven teenage space cadets, four adults and two kids - the ship's mission is to safely deliver a cargo of cyronically suspended New Settlers to populate the New World, paving the way for future generations of mankind.

All those on board know this is the journey of a lifetime where the expectations are enormous and failure a constant threat. Although operating under the control of the ship's captain, Commander Cyriax, the highly skilled teenage cadets, three boys and four girls, have responsibility for maintaining the Star Runner's safe course through space.

And space is a very dangerous place! Whether it be a star going super-nova, pulsars crashing computer equipment or cloning experiments in the lab, our small group of pioneers must employ all their skills and talents to trouble-shoot a way out of anything that jeopardises the voyage.

In this hot-house environment, where there is no privacy or escape, the cadets also have to do their growing up. Besides being the brightest of their generation, the young crew are also just regular teenagers. They fall in love, they get their hearts broken, they sometimes feel like failures, they compete like crazy with each other. Ultimately, they all know the mission comes first and personal differences must be overcome if they are to succeed.

Aimed at a tweenage audience (8 - 14 years), Silver Sun combines a fascinating science fiction setting with a serial drama about teenagers living ordinary lives under extraordinary circumstances.

Silver Sun is entirely studio based with special affects achieved through model making and CGI.
