The real estate market just got a lot hotter
Carlos Justo is the biggest fish in Miami's shark-infested pool of real estate - but he wants more. "Million Dollar Agents"
tracks property guru Carlos as he assembles a team of the fastest, hottest and most aggressive real estate agents South Florida has ever seen. Along with his business partner, Irving, they form Sol Sotheby's International Realty to handle Miami's ultra-luxury market - and set a goal for the first year's sales at $1.5 billion.
A Cuban immigrant, Carlos began with nothing and entered the easiest business he found: real estate. With his outsized personality, outrageous outfits and boundless in-your-face energy, Carlos is a natural star in the competitive world of real estate. With over 25 years of experience, he has closed some of the biggest deals Florida has ever seen. His client list includes Shaquille O'Neal, Julio Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez and Rosie O'Donnel.
One of the team's biggest challenges is adapting to Carlos' unconventional business practices, including employing an on-staff "vision coach." Instead of a business calendar, Carlos works on a lunar calendar; he plots his staff meetings and major sales on the movement of the moon. Every meeting begins with a meditation session, during which the team creates an "intention" for the day. Plus the staff regularly goes on full-day "vision retreats," where they refine their goals, both personal and professional. A perfect foil for Carlos' over-the-top personality, Irving ("The Partner") is the voice of reason. As CEO of Sol Sotheby's, Irving balances roles as task master, arbitrator and father-figure to this new team of agents.
A key member of this new team is Techrin ("The Rookie"), a former model and the newest agent on the team. Techrin's first six months under Carlos left her without making a single cent. Eager for her first deal, Techrin feels the pressure to perform as a member of this competitive team - or get out of the way.
Luis ("The Assistant") has to balance driving Carlos around Miami (in itself a daunting task as Carlos is a relentless backseat driver), answering Carlos' phone calls, managing his schedule and even cooking his breakfast. Luis handles the position with an unwavering smile, but he wants more out of this job and eventually he tries to break out from under Carlos by taking real estate exam.
